Editorial policy
Our guides are written for people over 50 who want straight answers about their retirement savings. This page explains how we make them, so you can judge how far to trust them.
What we write about
We cover retirement planning after 50, gold and silver IRAs, comparisons between investments, and scams aimed at retirement savers. Every page answers one real question that people ask, and the answer comes first, in the box at the top.
Where our facts come from
- Rules and numbers come from the source that sets them: IRS publications and IRS.gov pages, the tax code, the Social Security Administration and the US Treasury.
- Warnings about scams come from US regulators: the SEC, FINRA, the CFTC, the FTC and state securities regulators.
- Market figures such as past returns or price drops come from published data, with the source and the date range shown next to the figure.
- Fees come from published fee schedules, and we label them as the typical ranges we found in a given month.
Every page lists its sources at the bottom. If we can't confirm a fact, we leave it out.
How a page is made
- Our editorial team researches the question and the sources. We use research and writing tools, including AI tools, to help draft and organize pages.
- Every rule, number and quote is checked against its source by a person before the page is published.
- Jaynous Kool reviews each page before it goes live.
- The page shows the date it was last reviewed, under the title.
Balance
We don't sell gold or any other investment. Every page about gold also says what gold can't do: it pays no income, it costs money to store, its price can swing, and it can go years without gaining value. We never suggest moving most or all of your savings into metals, and we never promise returns.
Keeping pages up to date
Retirement rules change. The IRS usually announces new contribution limits each November, and we update our numbers when it does. We also review the whole site each January. When a rule changes, we update the page and its "last reviewed" date.
Corrections
If you think something on our site is wrong or out of date, please email admin@bestretirementinvestment.com with the page and what you found. We check every report, and we fix confirmed errors as soon as we can.
How we will review companies
At launch, the site has no company reviews. If we add reviews of gold IRA companies later, each one will use the same method:
- Costs: all fees in writing, including setup, yearly, storage and the markup on the metal.
- Buyback: whether the company buys metal back and how it sets that price.
- Who holds the metal: the custodian and depository the company works with.
- Record: complaints and actions on public records, such as regulators and the Better Business Bureau.
- Sales practices: whether the company uses pressure, deadlines or "free" offers.
A company that pays us a fee is reviewed the same way as one that doesn't. See our affiliate disclosure.
